Unsung Vietnam War Mod R1 Alpha
email to someone printer friendly

The Unsung Mod is proud to present our R1 (Alpha) release for Armed Assault. We have tried to keep in mind all the different specs of machinery in the community. We hope we can give a pleasurable jungle experience to everyone due to this. After hard and long work for the past years and months, the time has finally come. Yes troop, you get to hunt or be hunted in the jungles of South-East Asia! What does this release have? Well it has 3 islands to get fragged on in any of million ways. They are called "Kham Duc", "Ngok Tavak" and "In Country". On them you can sneak around as a member of the US Special Forces and shoot at the hardcore Vietcong or the even more bitter NVA. Or you can even be one of them and kick some SF ass. Fly around high in the sky with some Huey's and pile on from above, walk on the ground and develop a 1000 yard stare. Run, walk, crawl, fly, shoot to kill and get your fill in a Unsung made Vietnam environment thrill. Happy gaming people! And remember, keep your head low, your 16's on rock and roll and the world will turn! Thanks to all who contributed in any way to the mod and made it all possible!

Unsung Video Released!
email to someone printer friendly

You can tell that the upcoming Unsung MOD release is approaching with all of the pictures and videos popping up!

Sgt Savage of the Unsung MOD recently released a new video he calls "Unsung Extraction". Here is what he has to say:

"A preview of what is to come in 2009 another vid from the unsung. Please note the chatter you hear is our DSAI in test mode its a bit repetitive however it will not make it into this version. But rest assured it will be the next, along with some other goodies from the sound & scripting team.

Most of the sounds have been redone since this vid and again understand this is still WIP a lot will be fixed in the public version like the M60 door gunner sound has already been fixed my bad To all..... wishing you a happy 2009 Enjoy

Sav"

"We have another batch of screenshots for people to gaze upon. In these shots you see some of the Marines we are working on, the Special Forces that you already know, 2 of the Hueys and a taste of the vegetation on the island. Also we are showing you a small video of some of the stuff that will be in our R1 release for ArmA. Internal testing of the R1 files has started."

Jungle Fever Redux Final version released!
email to someone printer friendly

The last OFP version of Jungle Fever is finally here!

For people who have no clue what Jungle Fever is, here a short explenation from the author himself Hawkins.

This project started several years ago when WRPEdit was released, when I started making the A Shau Valley island. I abandoned the project about a half a year later, and started again when WRPTool was found. I also started making some new objects for it and also used Ebud's great Ilo Ilo ones to get it done.
I joined VTE, one version of the island was released with it, then I left VTE and short while after I joined the Unsung. I remade the island a bit with the great new vegetation that the talented Unsung modders had done, and that led the island to it's current form. Somewhere along the way I also started experimenting with some unit modelling and well, various other stuff, and I learned A LOT during that time, most of it from Unsung. Unsung influenced the mod in a great way, and I'm happy it did. The guys kept pushing me with beta updates and new missions all the time, and this encouraged me to finish the mod.

This is the final blow. There still might be some small bugs, but those wont be fixed. This version is stable, and it works! More work will be done, regarding missions for OFP, and most likely addons for Armed Assault. Have fun!

New ArmA 2 info + screenshots
email to someone printer friendly

First of all the website gamespy.com has announced that the english version of ArmA2 will be published by 505 Games (like ArmA 1) and the release date is set to the 1st Quarter 2009. 505 games will be publishing ArmA II in Europe, excluding Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

KEY FEATURES of ArmA2

-A whole new chapter in the ArmA franchise with new characters and an in-depth story
-Unlike most war simulations, ArmA II focuses on team play - including co-operative play, the ability to switch between team members and dramatic moments when you must give first aid to team mates
-Improved AI for team mates and enemies, now they use cover, hide and work better as a unit
-Dynamic conversations and events that shape the storyline
-Incredibly realistic game engine that's been used by the military for combat simulations
-Comprehensive online multiplayer modes
-An extremely strong modding community among the ArmA II fans

In the german speaking regions the game will be published by Peter Games (former Morphicon). Our newsposter Bence stumbled upon the shop of the HMH Hamburger Medien Haus (HMH is a partner of Peter Games) in which the German release date is set to the 16.10.2008.

All of these informations should not be taken for granted as BIS have not yet released an official release date.
